Role SummaryThe Generative Exploration Manager leads a team of geologists to identify and evaluate high‑potential silver and gold opportunities through research, fieldwork, and industry networking, securing land positions and advancing projects to key decision points. This role directly supports Hecla’s growth strategy by driving the discovery of under explored properties with Tier 1 silver potential.
Key Responsibilities- Identify and research new exploration opportunities through technical analysis, geological modeling, and innovative targeting methods.
- Build, manage, and analyze databases of mineral deposits and exploration properties to pinpoint high‑potential districts in stable jurisdictions.
- Conduct field investigations and integrate geological, technical, and economic data to support opportunity evaluations and recommendations.
- Lead and support property acquisition efforts, including claim staking, government applications, negotiations, and third‑party assessments.
- Prepare clear, comprehensive evaluation reports and present recommendations to senior leadership, including the VP of Exploration.
- 15+ years of progressive experience in generative exploration, opportunity identification, and project evaluation, including management of programs and joint ventures.
- Proven success identifying Tier 1 silver/gold opportunities, securing land positions, and designing effective exploration strategies.
- Advanced proficiency in Leapfrog, ioGAS, and Microsoft Office; working knowledge of ArcGIS, AutoCAD (or equivalent), and ac Quire preferred.
- Strong analytical, data interpretation, reporting, and executive‑level communication skills, with ability to work autonomously and lead collaboration across diverse stakeholders.
- Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally; culturally sensitive with experience working with government agencies, Indigenous communities, and industry partners.
- Master’s degree in Geology required (PhD preferred); active professional membership and Qualified Person certification under NI 43‑101, SK‑1300, or JORC.
