Position Summary

The Programming Manager is responsible for providing administrative leadership, program support and customer service for the Program Department of The Kroc Center. In addition, the position will provide proactive and quality collaborative efforts with Marketing, Youth Development, Aquatics and Member Services. The person in this position must be able to supervise program staff and instructors, have superior customer service skills, and strong organizational skills.

They must be flexible and able to handle multiple priorities simultaneously. This position will be involved in many areas of The Center, both creating and supporting systems for others to be successful, as well as supervising assigned Program employees.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide oversight to the day-to-day operations of all classes and offerings under the program department:
    Adult, Youth, and Senior Programming, Home School, Mini Camps, Dance and Art.
  • Collaborate with the ministry team in support of continued youth and adult ministry programs.
  • Manage programming staff and volunteers and promote the Mission of The Salvation Army.
  • Ensure that department staff and members view the Kroc Center as a safe place to belong and grow.
  • Responsibility, oversight, and development of missionally rich mini-camp offerings.
  • Work with Assistant Center Director to prepare department budgets and other financial information.
  • Perform data entry tasks including Traction Rec, UPace, and regular updates in relation to the Program Guide, Calendar and Membership Changes.
  • Editing and maintenance of Program Materials to include Program Guide, Drop in Guide and promotional materials. Scheduled training and content review with appropriate departments.
  • Prepare classes in order for instructors and students to have a positive and successful experience (room set ups, honorarium processing, and other standard preparation duties).
  • Hiring, development, evaluation, discipline and oversight of program instructors and staff.
  • Training staff to use software systems such as Traction Rec and UPace by creating in-person trainings and professional training. This will often be done in collaboration with other leadership, but with a primary role.
  • Transportation driving support in regard for Senior Field Trips, Third Grade Swim, Red Kettle efforts and Kroc Summer Camp.
  • Ensure that Protect the Mission policies are in place and practiced to protect minors and vulnerable adults.
  • Supervision:
    • Supervise assigned positions to include such job functions as intake and referral coordination, supervision of program attendants.
    • Ensure training is in partnership with other Divisional Departments such as Development and Human Resources.
    • Responsible for adhering to Salvation Army policies regarding employee management, and development including areas of hiring, performance management, safety, time and attendance and training in coordination with leadership and functional management, as well as in compliance with Divisional and Territorial requirements and policy.
    • Adhere to confidentiality of employment records and employee-related job performance and communications.
    • Perform other administrative duties as requested.
  • Maintain confidentiality.
  • Perform other work-related duties as assigned.
General Qualifications and Proficiencies
  • High School diploma or GED equivalency.
  • A bachelor’s degree in education, social services, theology or ministry, youth development, visual and/or performing arts, or related, or related years of experience preferred.
  • A minimum of two to three years of experience in social services, youth development or services, education, visual or performing arts, or similar is required, including project and program management.
  • A minimum of two years’ experience supervising employees.
  • Administrative and customer service experience required.
  • Experience working alongside volunteers.
  • Must have excellent computer skills, with working experience of Microsoft Office. Ability to use new software programs with basic training.
  • Ability to access, produce and research information from a computer.
