Answers and directs all physician answering service calls and responds according to employer and customer procedures. Operates telephone business systems to relay incoming, outgoing, and interoffice calls for the main hospital line. Supplies information to callers and records messages.
Part time - Variable shift - 56 hours per pay period
-Weekend availability required
Responsibilities:
- Performs paging functions for physicians
- Connects urgent after-hours callers to the physician on call
- Sends appointment cancellations to offices
- Operates telephone console and applications to route incoming calls and place outgoing calls
- Responsibilities include answering questions and providing information to callers
- Relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals
- Performs other related duties as assigned
- Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the field
- Regular and predictable attendance is an essential job function
- Competent to meet age specific needs of the unit assigned
Requirements and
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- 2 years’ customer service experience required
- Basic knowledge of medical terminology
- Excellent listening, typing and oral communication skills including the ability to speak effectively to clients and their customers
- Proven professional, enthusiastic, and friendly attitude with the ability to express empathy and care towards sensitive situations
- Basic computer proficiency, particularly with Microsoft and web-based applications
- Previous medical office and/or call center experience preferred

- Must be able to maintain a sitting position
- Typical equipment used in an office job
- Repetitive movements
