Perform a variety of scheduling and expediting duties related to material requirements planning. Determines the resources necessary to ensure an uninterrupted supply to support production and sales. Primarily concerned with raw material or finished/fabricated parts required in accordance with manufacturing schedules.
Key Responsibilities /Complexities:- Analyze master schedule of long‑range projections for completion and delivery targets of finished product; determine target date for receipt of materials required.
- Utilize system to project requirements planning; analyze stock, units on order, future requirements, and other production related data; make recommendations for project requirements. Responsible for maintaining just‑in‑time inventory.
- Proactively work with buyers to improve quality and processes as well as reduce shortages, delays, etc.
- Initiate purchase and shop orders to obtain material in accordance with schedule requirements; evaluate and determine alternate methods of meeting requirements with optimum cost and availability.
- Collaborate with other departments to determine disposition of materials and expedite flow of materials as needed; work with engineering in substitution of materials as required.
- Partner with suppliers to coordinate, expedite or change delivery schedules.
- Participate in cross‑functional and Lean continuous improvement projects.
- Trains suppliers on Nocturne system.
- Review overdue service orders, determine cause of delay and initiate corrective action.
- Lead, mentor or coach less experienced team members.
- Be able to calculate decimals and fractions; perform basic arithmetic functions.
- Must be able to read blueprints; ability to interpret complicated instructions.
- Comprehensive knowledge of planning and scheduling procedures, materials, machining operations and time requirements.
- Demonstrated experience with expediting materials to meet scheduling requirements.
- Proven ability to effectively communicate and negotiate with suppliers.
- Proficient in MAPICS and MS Office. Will be required to obtain an understanding of functions of Nocturne system.
- Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, rapidly changing environment.
- Possess good communication and interpersonal skills; be able to independently solve problems while interacting with various teams and teammates on daily processes and flow.
- Must be capable of multi‑tasking various duties throughout the day, have a positive attitude with an ability to be versatile and flexible.
Considerable judgment is required to analyze facts and circumstances surrounding scheduling problems, meet specified delivery dates, and determine alternative procedures that may be required within limits of established practice.
Supervisory/Responsibility:Works under minimal supervision with latitude; responsible for own work only.
Work Environment:The Planner III works in an indoor environment. May be exposed to some shop conditions, but not continuously to the extent of being disagreeable.
