Saft America Inc., a major innovator of high‑technology solutions for lithium‑ion batteries, is currently seeking a highly motivated and energetic student to fill an open Co‑op position supporting the Process Engineering team. Our site is located in Cockeysville, MD. The expectation is that this co‑op opportunity will run each semester of the school year and can be filled by one or two students.
Student applying for this position must be either a US Citizen or a Green Card Holder.
Summary of duties:
Train with our Process Engineers in the Operations and Engineering teams to work independently to evaluate, select, develop and implement programs. Miscellaneous tasks include:
- Design, analysis and modeling of new and upgraded mechanical components
- Preform in field task support, troubleshooting, and failure analysis
- Support engineering with routine engineering duties and/or hands‑on tasks
- Work independently on daily tasks
- Design, test, and deploy tooling and equipment to sustainably service our energy commercial product line
- Continuous product and process improvements.
Schedule:
The Co‑op program will continue throughout the school year, and could lead to a permanent position. The selected student(s) would start training on a routine working schedule. As time passes, the student would have more scheduling flexibility in order to accommodate classes and course load.
Required
Education:
Students should be entering Sophomore, Junior or Senior year of a BS in Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering degree.
Desired
Skills:
- Electrochemistry, manufacturing experience, chemical engineering, process engineering, characterization, use of a quality system, use of Microsoft office software.
- Students should employ a strong, hands‑on work ethic / capability. A majority of the work will be completed in a lab (zero humidity dry room requires appropriate PPE).
- Electrochemical background and experience will be a plus.
