Senior Accountant

Responsibilities

Kforce has a client that is seeking a Senior Accountant in Hunt Valley, MD.

Summary:

The Senior Accountant is responsible for supporting the organization’s accounting operations with a primary focus on general ledger activities, month‑end close, reconciliations, and financial reporting. This role requires strong technical accounting knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently in a fast‑paced environment. The Senior Accountant partners closely with the Accounting Manager and Controller to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting in accordance with GAAP.

• Senior Accountant will own and execute key aspects of the month‑end, quarter‑end, and year‑end close process
• Prepare, review, and post journal entries
• Perform balance sheet and P&L account reconciliations and investigate variances
• Maintain and analyze general ledger activity to ensure accuracy and completeness
• Support the preparation of financial statements and internal reporting packages
• Assist with audit requests, including preparation of schedules and supporting documentation
• Review transactions for GAAP compliance and proper accounting treatment
• Partner cross‑functionally with AP, AR, Payroll, and Operations to resolve accounting issues
• Identify opportunities for process improvements and increased efficiency
• Support special projects and ad‑hoc analyses as needed
• Reporting Structure:
  Reports to Accounting Manager, Assistant Controller, or Controller

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (or Finance with strong accounting experience)
• CPA or progress toward certification preferred, not required
• 4–7+ years of progressive accounting experience
• Hands‑on experience with general ledger accounting and close
• Experience with ERP systems (e.g., Net Suite, Dynamics, SAP, Oracle, Intacct, etc.)
• Experience working at a large publicly traded company and/or that started in public accounting and transitioned to a large publicly traded company;
  Will also consider someone straight out of public accounting
• Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, formulas)

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
