The Staff Accountant is responsible for managing daily accounting functions, including billing, accounts payable and receivable, bank reconciliations, and commission tracking. This position collaborates closely with property management, leasing, and operations teams to maintain accurate financial records and ensure seamless processes across the organization. Experience with Yardi is highly preferred.
Key Responsibilities- Oversee full-cycle accounts payable and receivable with accuracy and timeliness
- Prepare and distribute monthly billing, statements, and invoices
- Calculate, track, and process agent and broker commissions
- Maintain detailed records of property-level financial transactions
- Perform bank and account reconciliations, along with general ledger maintenance
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing activities
- Partner with operations and property management teams to resolve discrepancies
- Generate financial reports and support ad hoc analysis as needed
- Ensure compliance with company policies, internal controls, and accounting standards
- Provide support for audits and documentation requests
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 2–5+ years of accounting experience, ideally in real estate or property management
- Strong preference for Yardi experience
- Solid understanding of operational accounting processes (A/P, A/R, billing, commissions)
- Exceptional attention to detail, accuracy, and follow-through
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, fully onsite environment
