The Resource Pool Registered Nurse is responsible and accountable for individual nursing practice and determines the appropriate delegation of tasks consistent with the nurse's obligation to provide optimal care to multiple areas of nursing. The incumbent will also complete duties of the Nurse Officer of the Day (NOD) by assuming authority, responsibility, and accountability for managing and directing employees, staffing units, and allocating resources as necessary.
Duties include but are not limited to:
* Establishes a therapeutic relationship, allowing the patient to attain, maintain or regain optimal function through assessment and treatment.
* Engages patients, families, and other caregivers to incorporate knowledge, values, and beliefs into care planning without judgement or discrimination.
* Knowledgeable of ethical issues related to professional nursing practice and follows established policies of the practice setting, VA, and ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses.
* Aware of high reliability principles to deliver consistent care and improve patient outcomes.
* Participates in unit based educational activities and continuing education requirements.
* Communicates and treats the Veteran and as appropriate the Veteran's family, caregiver and/or significant other, the Veteran representatives, visitors to VA facilities, all VA staff, and other customers in a courteous, tactful, and respectful manner.
* Operates a utility vehicle on campus for the purpose of rounding to the units, responding to emergencies and other related duties.
* Assumes authority, responsibility, and accountability for managing and directing employees, staffing units, and allocating resources as necessary during weekends, holidays, and after-hours tours during the absence of nursing management/leadership.
* Collaborates with the Administrative Officer of the Day (AOD) and other members of the interdisciplinary team as needed for decisions related to on-going patient care and actions taken in emergency situations and disasters.
* Provides the Veteran's family, caregiver and/or significant other, the Veteran's representative, visitors to VA facilities, all VA staff, and other customers with consistent information according to establish policies and procedures. The incumbent handles conflict and problems in dealing with any consumer group appropriately and in a constructive manner.

Pay:
