This role is in support of Cencora's wholesale distribution services in Europe operating through our Alliance Healthcare business.

Job Title:
Driver Assessor / Class 1 Driver

Location:
Coatbridge Service Centre

Hours per week: 48 hours/Monday - Friday 7am start

Salary: £41,009.28

Job Summary

To improve MPG, decrease rate of Road Traffic Incidents, support Driver Team Managers by way of documented feedback following assessments practical and theory based. To help assess the level of current standards demonstrated by our people compared to that of DSA Standards. To provide training in Safe and Fuel Efficient Driving (SAFED).

The aim is to support the business by providing additional support to our people; to help meet Company, Customer and Legal Industry Standards

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide efficient, professional driver assessments both practical and theory based to current DSA standards.

  • Close liaison to and support of CDC Driver Team Managers

  • Co-ordinate the records on Personnel Training Record Cards

  • To assist with driver recruitment selection process and follow up assessments through out the drivers’ probationary period.

  • To conduct assessments following Driver RTC events and provide feed back and recommendations to the Driver Team Managers

  • To conduct support and assessment of drivers returning from long term absence.

  • Strict adherence to assessment schedule

  • Supportive Daily Walk Around Checks to ensure driver compliance.

  • Provide driving cover as and when required to support the business i.e. Shunting, trunking and store deliveries.

Skills, Knowledge and Experience required
  • Managing Relationships – Effectively managing relations with those being assessed, raising awareness and clearly defining the initiative as an awareness aid and ensuring that it is not regarded as punitive.

  • Team Development – Provides constructive feed back to DTM’s, objectively assesses team members, grows team skills and helps people to achieve their objectives, whilst able to recognise areas for improvement.

  • Focus – Raises awareness of other road users and movements of them that have potential to increase the chances of RTC’s

  • Supporting Change – Generate enthusiasm and install confidence in our people with regards to assessment based support

Essential
  • A full valid UK driving license must be held with minimum Cat B with no more than 3 Live points

  • Experienced UK Driving Licence Holder for minimum of 5 years.

  • Experience of Transport Industry

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Excellent knowledge of Health & Safety Requirements

  • Excellent knowledge of Road Traffic Laws

  • Intermediate Numeric and Literacy and PC skills

  • Knowledge of Working Time Directive legislation

  • Excellent Knowledge of local and regional areas and road networks

  • Flexible approach to working hours, location of assessment and working environment

Desirable
  • A full valid Clean UK driving license must be held with minimum Cat C+E (No restrictions)

  • Driver Certification Professional Competence DQC Holder

  • SAFED (Safe and Fuel Efficient Driving) Certification holder

  • Previous experience of conducting Driving Standard Assessments

Key Working Relationships
  • Constant interaction with internal colleagues

  • Regular liaison with Transport Management Team

  • Driver Assessors in other Service Centres

Level of Decision Making
  • Required to act on own initiative and work unsupervised

  • Required to monitor the condition of company fleet vehicles and report and damages or faults

  • Serious faults or damages may result in the assessor making the decision the vehicle is not roadworthy.

  • Recommendations relating to recruitment and suitability to drive a company fleet vehicle.

  • Recommendations for follow up e-learning modules
