Job Description

Adelphi is seeking a licensed Speech Pathologist to provide temporary/relief speech-language pathology services at a hospital in Coalinga, California. The ideal candidate will deliver clinically appropriate speech and language evaluation and treatment services to patients in a state hospital setting, ensure accurate clinical documentation, and comply with all applicable state regulations, hospital policies, and professional standards of care.

Requirements:

• Current and valid California Speech-Language Pathologist License issued by the Department of Consumer Affairs

• Master’s degree or higher in Speech-Language Pathology or a related field

• Resume with relevant experience

• Knowledge of standards of care established by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA)

• Basic knowledge of American Sign Language (ASL) and experience working with diverse patient populations preferred

• Ability to comply with hospital security, safety, and documentation requirements

Responsibilities:

• Provide speech, language, and cognitive rehabilitation services in accordance with physician orders

• Conduct clinical evaluations, assessments, and treatments for patients with communication, language, and swallowing disorders

• Address needs related to speech, language comprehension, articulation, voice, fluency, aphasia, dysphagia, and cognitive communication deficits

• Deliver services to deaf and hard-of-hearing patients, including use of ASL as appropriate

• Administer and interpret standardized assessments approved by the facility

• Develop, implement, and document individualized treatment plans

• Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant clinical documentation in accordance with Title 22 regulations and hospital policies

• Collaborate with physicians, nursing staff, and interdisciplinary treatment teams to support patient care

• Adhere to all safety, security, and confidentiality requirements while working on state hospital grounds

• Refer service limitations or concerns to the Chief Physician/Surgeon as required

• Perform services only when civil service staffing is unavailable, as designated by the facility

• Comply with all Department of State Hospitals policies, procedures, and contractual requirements

• Perform other related duties as assigned
