Join our dedicated Respiratory Therapy team at HRMC, a 154-bed facility offering a full range of services including general surgery, women’s care, intensive care, and emergency services. Our team is committed to delivering exceptional respiratory care and to enhancing the patient and family experience. We work closely with all providers and caregivers to ensure the best possible outcomes for every patient we serve.

How you’ll contribute

A Respiratory Therapist (RT) who excels in this role:

  • Measures lung capacity and analyzes blood samples using a blood gas analyzer.
  • Delivers and assesses response to ordered therapy per plan of care. Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate.
  • Evaluates respiratory care policies and procedures based on patient outcomes, current research, and best practices.
  • Responds to codes and calls for emergent assistance. Assesses patient condition and delivers appropriate treatment.
  • Educates the patient and family about the patient’s illness and provides information about community support groups and other resources.
  • Monitors, receives, stocks, and distributes respiratory care supplies and medical gas cylinders.
  • Maintains storage areas with required supply levels and equipment.
  • Disassembles, cleans, and sterilizes equipment, and performs preventative maintenance and calibration of machines.

What we’re looking for

Applicants should be a NC Registered Respiratory Therapist and graduate of a school of respiratory therapy. Additional requirements include:

  • Credentialed with the National Board of Respiratory Care (NRBC) required (60-day grace period for new graduates).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of hire.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) within 30 days of hire.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) within 6 months of hire.
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) within 6 months of hire.
  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
