Directs the department's activities and resources to achieve departmental and organizational objectives. Manage the work of others, including planning, assigning, scheduling and reviewing work, ensures quality standards. Responsible for hiring, terminating, training and developing, reviewing performance and administering corrective action for staff.

- To perform this job, an individual must perform each essential function satisfactorily with or without a reasonable accommodation.
- Develops and implements departmental goals, plans, and standards consistent with the clinical, administrative, legal, and ethical requirements/objectives of the organization.
- Directs and evaluates departmental operations, including patient care delivery, information technologies, service level determination, and complaint management, to achieve performance and quality control objectives.
- Plans and monitors staffing activities, including hiring, orienting, evaluating, disciplinary actions, and continuing education initiatives.
- Prepares, monitors, and evaluates departmental budgets, and ensures that the department operates in compliance with allocated funding. Coordinates and directs internal/external audits.
- Creates and fosters an environment that encourages professional growth and integrates evidence-based practices into operations and clinical protocols.

Whatwe're looking for
Applicants must have a current Registered Nurse licensure in the State of North Carolina or from a compact state. Additional requirements include:
- AHA Basic Life Support certification required within 30 days of hire.
- AHA ACLS and PALS required within six months of hire.
- Bachelor's degree preferred, Associate's degree required. Applicable work experience may be used in lieu of education.
- Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
Minimum overnight travel (up to 10%) by land and/or air.
