The Assistant Store Manager (ASM) plays a critical leadership role in supporting the Store Manager in daily operations, team development, and execution of the Kuppa Joy experience.

This role is responsible for leading shifts, training and developing team members, upholding operational standards, and protecting the customer experience. The ASM sets the tone for the shop, models Kuppa Joy values, and ensures excellence across all five operational pillars:
Customer Service, Food & Drink Quality, Cleanliness, Teamwork, and Asset Protection.

This position is ideal for a high-performing, hands-on leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about developing people and maintaining high standards.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Responsibilities and essential job functions include, but are not limited to:
  • Customer Service & Hospitality
    Lead by example to create a welcoming, engaging environment. Set the tone for culture, ensure strong customer connections, and uphold service standards at all times.
  • Food & Drink Quality
    Maintain excellence in product execution by ensuring all recipes, presentation standards, and quality expectations are consistently followed.
  • Cleanliness & Environment
    Ensure the café is consistently clean, organized, and visually appealing through proactive execution and team accountability.
  • Team Leadership & Development
    Train, coach, and support team members to meet performance expectations. Foster a culture of accountability, communication, and continuous improvement.
  • Asset Protection & Operations
    Support daily operations by ensuring proper cash handling, communication of operational needs, and adherence to company systems, processes, and policies.

Experience & Eligibility Requirements

Internal Applicants

To be considered for the Assistant Store Manager role internally, candidates must:
  • Have a minimum of 6 months experience as a Kuppa Joy Shift Lead
  • Be in good standing
  • Be consistently meeting or exceeding performance expectations
  • Demonstrate leadership maturity, reliability, and ownership of their current role
  • Be available to work a minimum of 32+ hours per week
  • Availability on Saturdays, weekends, and holidays as required
External Applicants

To be considered for the Assistant Store Manager role externally, candidates must:
  • Have prior leadership or supervisory experience
  • Demonstrate the ability to lead, coach, and hold others accountable
  • Show strong communication and problem-solving skills
  • Be available to work a minimum of 32+ hours per week
  • Availability on Saturdays, weekends, and holidays as required
