The Retail Associate is responsible for ensuring customers have a positive shopping experience. The associate greets all customers with eye contact, smiles, and a courteous “hello,” treats fellow associates with respect, follows all company best‑practice standards, maintains a clean work area at all times, and ensures proper merchandise presentation. The associate remains engaged in all assigned tasks during working hours and performs a range of functions throughout the store as needed.
EssentialFunctions
- Understand that safety is the number one priority and practice safe behaviors in everything they do.
- Maintain a high level of awareness on the sales floor to create a safe and secure shopping environment for everyone – keep egress clear and immediately report unsafe conditions.
- Treat all customers and associates with respect and courtesy; be friendly and professional at all times. Recognize fellow associates using company recognition programs.
- Assist customers – is register‑trained, helps customers with merchandise, and answers questions politely and knowledgeably. Greet customers by saying “hello” and thank them at each transaction.
- Provide prompt and efficient responses to customers at all times and handle customer issues courteously, calling leadership when needed.
- Represent and support the company brand at all times.
- Perform cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, dusting, wiping counters and mirrors, replenishing restroom supplies, and disinfecting high‑touch areas to maintain merchandise and team areas.
- Maintain a professional appearance and adhere to the company’s dress code at all times.
- Perform daily assigned sizing and recovery to keep the store organized and merchandised to standards.
- Expedite newly received merchandise to the sales floor quickly, merchandise all items per best practice and monthly presentation guidelines, and maintain brand familiarity within departments.
- Understand the loss prevention awareness program, the Shortage Highway, the Store Protection Specialist position, and merchandise protection standards.
- Demonstrate integrity and honesty in all interactions with associates and customers. Safeguard confidential information, cash, credit card, and merchandise.
- Follow all Mark‑Out‑of‑Stock policies, properly process MOS merchandise, and notify leadership to review and approve disposals.
- Follow all cash, check, charge‑card, refund transactions, voids and offline procedures. Maintain a high level of accuracy when handling bankable tenders.

- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.
- Use all store equipment, including PDTs, registers, and PCs as required.
- Spending up to 100 % of working time standing, walking, and moving around the store.
