Responsibilities

  • Design and detail mechanical systems and subassemblies, including weldments, piping, hydraulics, pneumatics, and motion systems.
  • Develop design concepts and detailed fabrication drawings that meet contractual, performance, and manufacturability requirements.
  • Perform extensive 3D CAD modeling and 2D detailing for parts, assemblies, and systems (Solid Works preferred).
  • Ensure design integrity through verification, reviews, and quality checks in alignment with project and company standards.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams—including engineering, manufacturing, procurement, and project management—to ensure seamless integration of designs into production.
  • Provide technical guidance to internal teams and external partners during the design, drafting, and fabrication phases.
  • Support purchasing by defining technical requirements and evaluating supplier capabilities.
  • Manage assigned design projects, including cost estimation, scheduling, and progress tracking.
  • Troubleshoot design and production challenges, implementing practical solutions with accountability for follow-up and results.
Required and Preferred Education, Experience and Qualifications Education
  • Bachelor’s degree (BSME or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering (preferred).
Experience
  • 5+ years of experience in mechanical system design, preferably involving vacuum or controlled atmosphere systems.
Technical Skills
  • Strong proficiency in Solid Works or similar CAD software.
  • Working knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
  • Familiarity with materials including carbon steel, stainless steel, copper, brass, aluminum, and engineering plastics.
  • Understanding of fabrication and joining methods—threaded, welded, formed, and brazed assemblies.
  • Experience with systems incorporating motors, sensors, actuators, hydraulics, and pneumatics.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and general documentation tools.
