Electrical & Instrumentation Designer – 6 Month Contract
Location: Clitheroe - hybrid - onsite 3 days a week, 2 days from home
About the RoleAn exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Electrical & Instrumentation Designer to join a dynamic engineering team on a 6-month contract, based at the Clitheroe site. The successful candidate will play a key role in the creation and development of electrical and instrumentation design drawings, supporting both ongoing site improvements and new capital projects.
Key Responsibilities- Develop electrical and instrumentation design drawings, including schematic diagrams, single line diagrams, loop drawings, cable routing, and panel layouts.
- Draft scopes of work, bills of materials, termination schedules, equipment data sheets, and proof testing documents.
- Support installation supervisors with design packs and technical guidance.
- Conduct Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs) on site and at supplier locations.
- Liaise with suppliers for technical data and quotations.
- Contribute to hazard studies, design reviews, and project reviews.
- Report work status to management and self-manage design office requests.
- HNC in Electrical Design or equivalent.
- Strong understanding of P&IDs, line diagrams, process data sheets, and mechanical drawings.
- Proficient in AutoCAD 2019 and Trimble Pro Design.
- Working knowledge of low voltage power system design, instrumentation, and control loop design.
- Familiarity with BS7671:2018 (IET Wiring Regulations) & BS EN 61439.
- Excellent IT skills, self-management, and professional communication abilities.
- Strong teamwork, flexibility, and concern for high standards.
- Experience with DCS/PLC systems (Emerson Delta V, Hima Sella, Mitsubishi PLCs).
- Knowledge of motor control systems and safety instrumented systems.
- IOSH or NEBOSH certification.
