Role overview

Lead the execution of precision inspections on automotive engine components using CMMs, 3D scanning systems, and industrial CT. Ensure results meet drawing requirements, specifications, and GD&T while driving corrective action and continuous improvement with cross-functional partners.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Metrology operations:
    Run CMM programs; utilize ATOS or Keyence 3D scanners; operate Zeiss CT; perform roundness (Form Trace) and surface trace measurements.
  • Dimensional control:
    Conduct part inspections aligned to product drawings and GD&T; design and set up fixtures for robust, repeatable measurement.
  • 3D data acquisition:
    Capture, align, and compare scan data to CAD or reference models for surface deviation analysis.
  • CT analysis:
    Inspect internal features to identify defects and verify integrity of complex cast components.
  • Technical interpretation:
    Read and interpret drawings, specifications, and GD&T to define inspection plans.
  • Quality testing:
    Execute dimensional checks, material evaluation, surface finish assessment, and functional testing; interpret and disposition results.
  • Reporting & analytics:
    Process datasets with specialized software and deliver concise reports with clear findings.
  • Documentation & traceability:
    Maintain thorough records of inspections, results, and quality procedures.
  • Collaboration:

    Partner with engineering, production, and QA to resolve issues and implement corrective actions that strengthen processes.
  • Compliance & safety:
    Uphold applicable quality standards, regulatory requirements, and safety protocols.
Qualifications
  • Solid grounding in quality control principles, methods, and techniques.
  • Proficiency with metrology and lab equipment for dimensional, material, and functional testing.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and data integrity.
  • Ability to read drawings and interpret technical specs and GD&T.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to troubleshoot quality issues.
  • Effective verbal and written communication.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Familiarity with QMS/standards preferred.
  • Knowledge of MSA (Measurement System Analysis) and statistical skip lots.
  • Dedication to quality, safety, and continuous improvement.
  • 3–5 years of QC/QA experience in manufacturing; automotive preferred.
Education
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree or technical certification preferred.
Travel
  • Approximately 0% expected; willingness to travel to sites as business needs arise.
Attendance & scheduling
  • Maintain acceptable attendance.
  • Willingness to support weekend/holiday work when necessary to meet demand.
