Job DescriptionJob Overview: This position is specific to students with IEPs who have significant behavior needs. The teacher works to provide extra support for special education students who need extra behavior support. They should work to build healthy relationships between educators and students, while taking strides to reduce, prevent, and improve harmful behavior. The teacher will focus on resolving conflict, while holding individual students and groups accountable.
Finally, the teacher will work to develop, support, and challenge students to find success in the classroom.
- Meet with parents on student behavior, including written parent consent, and implementation of behavior supports.
- Collect behavior data through direct observations and indirectly from other teachers and counselors for behavior plans.
- Enter data into digital systems for tracking and plan creation.
- Create and monitor behavior plans, and determine the effectiveness of plan as new data is collected.
- Address Social Emotional or Adaptive Learning as a Hawk Time intervention or during the related arts period.
- Provide classroom support, as needed, in an inclusion setting, and provide a resource environment as determined by student needs.
- Establish outcomes if behavior identified continues after interventions.
- Attend grade level team meetings on a weekly basis.
- Attend behavior planning meetings with administrators and counselors monthly.
- Meet with students at the alternative setting who have the possibility to return to Clinton Middle School with the goal of helping them find success during their transition back to their zoned school.

Minimum Qualifications
- To establish rapport and work constructively with staff, students, parents, and community members.
- To creatively solve problems and work through the conflict resolution process.
- To communicate effectively, in oral and written form.
- To maintain knowledge of best practices and laws governing behavioral supports for students with disabilities.
- To create and maintain Individualized Education Plans and Behavior Intervention Plans
Responsibilities: Working under limited supervision following standardized practices and/or methods; leading, guiding, and/or coordinating others; utilization of some resources from other work units may be required to perform the job's functions. There is a continual opportunity to significantly impact the organization’s services.
Working Conditions & Physical Demands- Ability to work at a desk, conference table or in meetings of various configurations.
- Ability to stand and circulate for extended periods of time.
- Ability to communicate so others will be able to clearly understand normal conversation.
- Moderate to high stress levels.
- Daily contact with students, teachers, and school staff.
- Regular contact with parents, community members and outside agency personnel.
Experience Preferred but not required:
- Experience writing behavior plans for students with behavior difficulties including students with autism and other disabilities.
- ABA or similar research-based training experience and training.
- 3 years minimum experience working as a behavior or autism specialist or related field.
- Special Education Interventionist or Comprehensive Endorsement
