- Planning, implementing and overseeing recreational and leisure activities and/or programs to meet the needs, desires and abilities of residents
- Ensuring alternate programs and weekend schedules are identified for residents. This may include during hazardous weather, weekends day and special circumstances.
- Ensuring alternate programs are implemented within the residence of the consumers.
- Planning and coordinating on/off campus outings. Escorting or transporting consumers to and from recreation areas both on-campus and off-campus.
- Requisition ing and maintaining appropriate supplies and equipment. Providing decorations for events.
- Providing direct hands-on individual care to all consumers as needed. Following sound professional techniques according to agency guidelines, rules and regulations. Participating in training and providing guidance to consumers in the development of activities of daily living skills. Monitoring and transporting consumers to and from programs, activities and off-campus appointments/trips. Ensuring the health and safety of each consumer while assigned to a residential building.
May be required to stay over or work an additional shift to ensure proper staffing levels are maintained to ensure the safety of consumers. - Performing additional duties as required.
This position is eligible for up to $3.50/hour shift differential for applicable shifts!
LocationThe position for this posting is located at Whitten Regional Center, an Intermediate Care Facility for Individuals with Intellectual Disabilities (ICF-IID) of BHDD-OIDD located in Clinton, SC serving residents with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Qualifications- High school diploma and relevant experience. A bachelor s degree in physical education, recreation or a related field may be substituted for work experience.
- Knowledge of various types of recreational activities. Knowledge of how to plan, organize and oversee recreational activities. Knowledge of recreational therapy principles, techniques and methods.
- Ability to motivate and sustain the interest of residents. Ability to instruct residents in various recreational activities. Ability to communicate effectively.
Employment is contingent upon our receipt of the following required pre-employment screenings: medical screening – to include a drug screen; background record checks (including fingerprinting), South Carolina Department of Social Services’ Child Abuse and Neglect Central Registry screening, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office of Inspector General “List of Excluded Individuals/Entities” screening;
South Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles Driving Record check; and a review of transcripts verifying educational credentials.
