Responsibilities- Conducts comprehensive assessments of individuals seeking Autism Spectrum Disorder eligibility (all ages).
- Conducts record reviews, re-evaluation assessments, appeals, and emergent/crisis evaluations of individuals seeking Autism Spectrum Disorder eligibility.
- Proactively researches and engages in educational opportunities and skill-building activities to foster personal and professional growth.
- Participates as a team member and provides back-up assistance to other staff/teams. Day travel may be required for inter-division support.
- Completes other duties as assigned.
The South Carolina Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (BHDD), Office of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (OIDD) plans, develops, coordinates, and funds services for South Carolinians with the severe, lifelong disabilities of:
- intellectual disability and related disabilities
- autism spectrum disorder
- traumatic brain injury
- spinal cord injury and similar disability
This position is located at Whitten Regional Center, in Clinton, SC.
QualificationsLicensed Psychologist (Ph.D or Psy.
D), Developmental Pediatrician, or LPES with at least two (2) years of specialized experience and license to practice in the State of SC or be an LPES as defined by the SC Department of LLR. Training and experience with various evaluation and screening measures (cognitive, adaptive, Autism Spectrum Disorder, etc.). Current working knowledge of ASD with experience, training, and specialization in ASD services.
Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work cooperatively with families, professionals, and the public. A valid driver's license in good standing.
Employment Contingency: Employment is contingent upon pre-employment screenings, including medical screening (to include a drug screen), background checks (fingerprinting), SC DSS Child Abuse and Neglect Central Registry screening, HHS OIG exclusion list screening, SC DMV driving record check, and verification of educational credentials. Immunization: If this position requires work with consumers of BHDD/OIDD, TB testing may be required. All new healthcare employee hires must provide documentation of immunity or vaccination against measles, mumps, rubella, pertussis, varicella, and hepatitis B prior to employment.
State Disaster Plan: In accordance with the State s Disaster Plan, employees may be required to work during emergencies or disasters.
