Patient Care Technician (PCT) – Clinton, MA
Start Date: ASAP
Contract Length: 13 weeks (high likelihood of extension)
Hours per Week: 36 hrs
Shift Details
- Schedule: 3x12-hour shifts
- Shift: Nights
- Hours: 6:00 PM – 6:30 AM (Monday–Friday)
- Weekends/Holidays: Every other weekend & holiday required
Position Overview
The Patient Care Technician will provide direct patient care within a behavioral health/psychiatric environment serving primarily geriatric populations. This role requires strong clinical awareness, de-escalation skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, highly structured, and safety‑focused unit.
Experience & Requirements
- 1–2 years of experience in a Long-Term Care, Hospital, or related clinical setting
- Previous psychiatric or behavioral health experience preferred
- PCTs accepted
- If currently working as a CNA: Must hold an active Massachusetts CNA license to qualify
Float Requirements
- Required to float between:
- Medical Telemetry unit – Clinton campus
- Medical Telemetry unit – Leominster campus
Patient Population
Includes, but is not limited to:
- Geriatric patients
- Dementia with behavioral disturbances
- Bipolar disorder
- Schizophrenia & schizoaffective disorder
- Depression
- Suicidal ideation
Key Responsibilities
- Perform 15-minute safety checks and observe/report patient behavior
- Support de-escalation practices and promote a calm, safe environment
- Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs)
- Provide geriatric-focused and dementia-sensitive care
- Participate in restraint and safety intervention procedures when required
- Follow legal and clinical procedures for patients on locked psychiatric units
- Collaborate with nursing staff and interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes
