This opportunity resides with Warfare Systems (WS), a business group within HII’s Mission Technologies division. Warfare Systems comprises cyber and mission IT; electronic warfare; and C5
ISR systems.
HII - Mission Technologies is seeking a talented Front-End Developer who also has strong UX/UI design skills to join our team. This role bridges design and development, ensuring that our applications are not only functional and performant but also visually appealing and user-friendly.
EssentialJob Responsibilities
- Develop responsive, high-quality web interfaces using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and modern frameworks (React, Angular, or Vue).
- Collaborate with product managers and designers to translate wireframes and prototypes into functional code.
- Design intuitive and visually appealing user interfaces using tools like Figma, Sketch, or Adobe XD.
- Ensure accessibility, cross-browser compatibility, and performance optimization.
- Implement and maintain design systems and reusable UI components.
- Conduct user testing and iterate based on feedback to improve user experience.
- Work closely with back-end developers to integrate APIs and ensure seamless functionality.
- Assist with the creation, enhancement, and maintenance of web applications.
- Work closely with designers, backend engineers, and data scientists to build holistic user experiences.
- Troubleshoot customer reported issues in applications and providing support.
- Write unit tests and conduct quality assurance testing.
- Leading development of classification marking and access-control tooling.
- Mentoring junior developers and improve team development processes.
- Analyzing system requirements and supporting architecture documentation.
- Performing full lifecycle development and troubleshooting.
- Working independently or as part of a collaborative development team.
- Reviewing and testing software components to ensure adherence to design requirements and documenting test results.
- Resolving software problem reports and implementing corrective actions.
- Utilizing software development and design methodologies appropriate to the development environment.
- Providing input to system-level design decisions, including hardware/software trade-offs, software reuse, and the use of COTS/GOTS in place of new development.
- Conducting requirements analysis and synthesizing system-level requirements into individual software components.
- Security Clearance - A current Secret level U.S. Government security clearance is required with ability to upgrade
- U.S. citizenship
- At least 5 years of experience in Software Engineering, Modern Front-End Frameworks and Libraries (e.g. Vue, React, Angular), and a Bachelors in related field; 3 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 9 years relevant experience.
- IATT Level 2 Compliance:
- Must possess or be able to obtain within 60 days of start of employment (CompTIA Security+, CySA+, or SSCP.)
- Experience with the agile software lifecycle.
- Experience with configuration management tools (e.g. Git, Nexus, Maven).
- Has a proven ability to learn quickly and works well both independently as well as in a team setting.
- Problem solving skills and ability to review information and compile data appropriately as needed.
- 5 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 3 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; 0 years experience with PhD in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 9 years relevant experience.
- Must be able to work in a hybrid environment, spending an average of 1-2 days per month in Odenton, MD.
- Flexibility is essential to adapt to schedule changes as needed.
- Understanding of AGILE software development methodologies and use of standard software development tool suites. (e.g., JIRA, Confluence, Youtrack, Github, etc.)
- Current Top Secret level U.S. Government security clearance.
- Comfortable working on a linux command line.
- Ability to work at a computer for extended periods of time.
- Ability to communicate effectively via phone, video, and in-person meetings.
- Occasional lifting of up to 10 pounds (e.g., moving laptops or small equipment).
- Ability to travel as required (if applicable).
- Ability to remain in a stationary position for long periods while performing job duties.
- Visual acuity to review detailed code and documentation on screens.
