Sales Representative, Business Development
The Sales Representative will be a key member of TFA’s Sales & Distribution Team, responsible for driving growth through strong, proven sales ability. This role focuses on closing institutional and wholesale accounts and managing sales of produce, pantry items, and value-added products from TFA-affiliated farmers. Key buyers include restaurants, senior homes, assisted living facilities, schools, small grocers, food co‑ops, and distributors.
This position requires excellent communication skills, strong sales instincts, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Experience with organic produce and organic food items is a strong plus.
Requirements2–3 years of successful sales experience in produce, grocery, or food distribution (produce preferred).
Ability to confidently pitch products, negotiate pricing, and close institutional sales.
Understanding of seasonality, quality standards, and handling practices.
Strong communication, organization, and database management skills.
Experience with organic produce is a plus.
Valid driver’s license and frequent DMV travel required.
Candidates with a personal vehicle are preferred; mileage reimbursement is provided.
Trial Period
This position includes a one-month (30-day) trial engagement beginning on the start date. During this period, performance, sales activity, communication, and overall fit will be evaluated. Continuation of the contract beyond the initial 30 days will be based on mutual agreement and demonstrated progress toward sales goals.
Key ResponsibilitiesBuild, grow, and manage relationships with institutional and wholesale buyers.
Conduct regular sales outreach, follow-ups, and buyer meetings.
Coordinate with Outreach Coordinators and logistics teams on pricing, availability, and delivery.
Maintain buyer and vendor databases and track sales activity.
Provide weekly sales updates and identify new business opportunities.
