General Summary of Position

Med Star Southern Maryland Hospital Center is looking for Nursing Leaders. This is a rotating shift (Days and Evenings).

Our Heart and Vascular Center's cardiac catheterization laboratories are the site of life‑saving interventions for heart‑attack patients, elective angioplasties, and diagnostic procedures. We have the Med Star Georgetown Cancer Institute (MGCI) at Med Star Southern Maryland Hospital Center, which has technology not available anywhere else in the area, such as the Halcyon treatment system and Zap‑X. We have a strong neurosciences program, with Med Star Georgetown University Hospital neurologists and neurosurgeons available onsite.

Our Nursing Leaders are members of Med Star Health entity-based Division of Nursing and the leadership team. They support and collaborate with the Director of Nursing in providing leadership and oversight for a specific unit/department. They direct and coordinate the nursing and patient care delivery of the unit-based professional and support personnel. They ensure the provision of holistic, culturally competent, and person-centered, quality, safe, and cost-effective evidence-based nursing care for patients and families.

They apply the nursing process within the context of the organization's shared/collaborative decision-making framework. They collaboratively manage the patient's transitions across the continuum of care to assist patients and populations in achieving or maintaining an optimal level of health and functioning. They assume administrative and leadership authority and responsibility on a 24‑hour/7‑day basis for the assigned unit/department. They foster associates' commitment to improving quality, safety, and cost-conscious patient care outcomes.

They collaborate with the Director of Nursing in maintaining adherence to regulatory and accreditation standards, and Med Star Health's policies and procedures. They demonstrate leadership and behaviors that are consistent with Med Star's mission, vision, goals, SPIRIT Values, patient care philosophy, and sound moral and ethical judgment.

• BSN
• Active MD or Compact RN License
• Previous Nursing Leadership experience in a hospital/acute care setting required
• 3‑5 years minimum experience as a Clinical RN in a hospital/acute care setting required
• 2‑4 years minimum experience as a Nursing Leader in a hospital/acute care setting required
