General Summary of PositionThe RN Patient Experience Specialist plays a critical role in enhancing the overall patient experience within our healthcare facility. This position combines clinical expertise with a strong focus on patient satisfaction and engagement. The specialist will work collaboratively with healthcare teams to ensure that patients receive compassionate care, clear communication, and support throughout their healthcare journey.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities- Serve as a liaison between patients, families, and healthcare providers to promote effective communication and address patient concerns.
- Monitor patient progress, goal attainment, and patient experience feedback to evaluate the effectiveness of care. Ensure plan of care changes are communicated to patient family and healthcare team.
- Conduct daily patient rounds to gather insights into their experiences (clinical and non-clinical), identify areas for enhancement in services and care delivery, and address patient concerns with appropriate follow‑up as needed.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement programs aimed at improving patient engagement and satisfaction.
- Educate patients and families about available services, care processes, and resources to empower them in their healthcare decisions.
- Summarize, prepare, and present monthly reports to leadership, including patient satisfaction and HCAHPS data/trends from approved sources.
- Design and implement patient experience strategies for improvement based on feedback.
- Provide training and support to staff on best practices for patient‑centered care and effective communication strategies.
- Stay current with industry trends and best practices related to patient experience and healthcare quality improvement.
- Collaborate closely with the Director of Volunteer Services and Hospital Wellbeing.
- Bachelor's degree in nursing or related field required
- Master's degree in nursing or related field preferred
- 5‑7 years clinical nursing experience, preferably in a patient‑facing role, required
- Experience in patient advocacy or healthcare administration preferred
- RN – Registered Nurse (State Licensure and/or Compact State Licensure) required upon hire
- Certified Patient Experience Professional (CPXP) or Certified in Patient Experience or related field preferred
- Strong understanding of patient experience metrics and quality improvement processes
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem‑solving skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast‑paced multidisciplinary environment
- Ability to navigate electronic health record (EHR) systems
- Compassionate and empathetic approach to patient care
