Position: A. Preschool IEP Aide - 3 hour

Preschool IEP Aide

1 on 1 aide (3 hrs.) 8:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. Monday through Thursday

Brief Summary of Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assist classroom and/or Resource Teacher with Parents, Building Administrators, IEP Team and Behavior Specialist with duties as requested.
  • Assist classroom and/or resource teacher in duties as requested.
  • Assist with student supervision as it relates to teacher released‑time, playground, cafeteria and transportation.
  • Shall assist students individually or in small groups.
  • Assist in the supervision and management of special needs children including severe behavior.
  • Assist teacher in making and reproducing teacher‑made materials.
  • Maintain a positive rapport with staff & students.
  • Assist office staff with filing and record keeping as needed.

Qualifications
  • Must qualify under federal “No Child Left Behind” standards that include: 1.) a minimum of two years of study at an institution of higher learning, 2.) an Associate's degree for paraprofessionals or, 3.) meet a rigorous standard of quality that can be demonstrated through a formal academic assessment.
  • Work cooperatively with fellow workers, maintain a positive attitude.
  • Ability to perform light to moderate physical labor.
  • Must be able to obtain or possess an Aide certificate under O.R.C. .
  • Demonstrate a knowledge of first aid procedures.
  • Have and maintain a high level of confidentiality.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with students, staff and community.
  • Be able to perform the essential qualifications of the job as set forth in the job description.
Required Training and Certifications
  • Child Abuse Prevention training (online).
  • Non‑conviction statement.
  • Medical statement signed by physician, physician assistant, or advanced practice RN.
  • CPR/First aid for adults and children (online and in‑person skills test).
  • Communicable disease training (online).
  • Orientation training (online).
  • Quality childcare training (online).
  • Overview of child development training (online).
  • Early Learning Assessment assistance training (in person).
  • Crisis Intervention Prevention training (in person).
  • Additional professional development yearly.
