One of our clients is hiring for a Skid Steer Operator to safely operate skid steer loaders in asphalt and paving operations. The role involves site preparation, grading, asphalt spreading, material handling, and equipment maintenance while adhering to safety standards.
About the RoleThe Skid Steer Operator is responsible for performing tasks that support paving crews, including preparing job sites, transporting materials, compacting surfaces, and operating skid steer attachments. The operator ensures high-quality project outcomes, maintains equipment, and follows safety protocols under varying weather conditions.
Key Responsibilities- Operate skid steer loaders to move asphalt, gravel, and construction materials
- Prepare job sites by clearing debris, leveling surfaces, and assisting paving crews
- Load and unload trucks and transport materials efficiently around the site
- Compact surfaces and support base preparation for asphalt laying
- Inspect skid steer daily for mechanical issues, leaks, and tire damage
- Perform routine maintenance, including refueling, cleaning, and lubrication
- Follow all safety guidelines (OSHA standards) and wear proper PPE
- Communicate with team members to ensure smooth and safe project workflow
- Promote and adhere to health, safety, and environmental policies on site
- Demonstrate reliability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 2 years of skid steer experience in asphalt/paving operations
- Experience performing site preparation, grading, and asphalt spreading
- Skilled in using skid steer attachments (buckets, forks, sweepers, etc.) safely
- Ability to conduct equipment inspections, maintenance, and report mechanical issues
- Ability to follow project plans and supervisor instructions accurately
- Strong knowledge of jobsite safety and OSHA standards
- Reliable transportation required for daily travel
- Commitment to punctuality, teamwork, and high-quality work
- Must be clean-shaven if respirator use is required
- Outdoor work with exposure to hot, cold, wet, and challenging weather conditions
- Work around heavy machinery and construction materials
