Ironworker

Ironworkers perform duties to raise, place and unite girders, columns and other structural steel members to form completed structures or structure framework.

• Reads blueprints and selects required material for construction.
• Sets up hoisting equipment for raising and placing structural steel members.
• Fastens steel members to hoist cable using chain, cable or rope.
• Guides lifted structure into proper position and aligns rivet holes with corresponding holes.
• Drives drift pins through rivet holes.
• Assists in lifting, positioning and securing materials and work pieces during installation.
• Verifies vertical and horizontal alignment using plumb bob and level.
• Bolts aligned structures to keep them in position until permanently riveted, bolted or welded into place.

Education – no minimum education requirements.

Experience – 3-5 years of Journeyman level experience.
