Shifts are Monday to Friday 8:30 am – 5:00 pm. The colleague receives one day off per pay period (outside the assigned on‑call week). The day can be selected as long as it isn’t every other Friday.
Sign‑on bonus up to $20,000 based on experience.

Day Shift (Monday – Friday).
As a Respiratory Therapist, HME at Mercy One, you will provide clinical respiratory services in client homes, assisted living facilities, long‑term care facilities, and other locations where home respiratory equipment is required. Service area includes a 4‑county region in Iowa and Illinois. Respiratory equipment includes home oxygen, CPAP, Bi‑Level, home suction, medication compressors, and other assigned equipment. Clinical services are documented per established procedures.
You will perform client diagnostic procedures, evaluate equipment per schedule, provide instruction and troubleshooting tips, and offer in‑services to long‑term care facility staff as needed.
- Provide instruction for therapy and/or equipment use for home self‑care per physician referral.
- Maintain complete and accurate documentation of client home or facility visits.
- Receive and write verbal or phone orders pertaining to respiratory care.
- Respond to on‑call client needs.
- Deliver, set‑up, and pick‑up equipment and related products in client homes and institutions.
- Educate clients on proper home use and maintenance of equipment.
- Troubleshoot and perform minor repairs on equipment that is suspected of malfunctioning.
- 36 hours per week.
- 8:30 am – 5:00 pm Monday – Friday.
- On‑call rotation every third week, including weekends and holidays.
- Registered Respiratory Therapist license in Iowa and obtain Illinois license within four months of hire.
- Registered by the National Board for Respiratory Care upon hire.
- Valid driver’s license with clean driving record (no DWI/DUI convictions within past five years, no accidents determined at fault within past three years, no moving violations within past 12 months, proof of auto insurance).
- Pass Illinois background check within three months of hire.
- Maintain Basic Cardiac Life Support certification.
- Available for 24‑hour call coverage, including weekends and evenings.
- Communicate effectively with clients who may be ill, elderly, anxious, or confused.
- Show patience and compassion when educating clients.
- Basic computer keyboarding skills required.
- Communicate with client family members and other health‑care professionals (physicians, nurses, social workers, etc.).
- Comfortable operating in a collaborative, shared‑leadership environment.
- Exhibit personal presence of honesty, integrity, and caring; inspire and motivate others to promote Trinity Health’s philosophy, mission, vision, goals, and values.
- Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program.
