Part‑time position based in Mercy One Clinton / Mercy One Genesis, coordinating patient shuttle vans and transportation needs for patients within the Mercy One Eastern Iowa Region.
Position PurposeResponsible for coordinating the patient shuttle vans and transportation needs of patients to and from facilities throughout the region.
Essential Functions- Adhere to Mercy One’s Care Model and Trinity Health’s Code of Conduct, fostering a climate of compassionate care.
- Maintain knowledge of applicable Federal, State, and local laws and regulations, along with Trinity Health’s Organizational Integrity Program and Standards of Conduct.
- Maintain and update the transportation schedule for patients needing transport to and from appointments and after medical center discharge.
- Communicate appropriately with drivers regarding pick‑up/drop‑off times and locations for patients.
- Perform other duties consistent with the purpose of the job as directed.
- Maintain a professional, collaborative work environment to foster a positive public image for Mercy One Clinton Medical Center.
- Know and adhere to all laws and regulations pertaining to patient health, safety, and medical information (e.g., HIPAA, Stark, etc.).
- Exhibit independent thinking in performing job functions.
- Effectively and courteously communicate with customers and members of pharmacy, medical, and hospital staff.
- Must be 18 years of age with a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Certified Nurse Aide (state verification from Iowa) – preferred.
- BLS certification within 3 months of hire.
- Valid U.S. driver’s license (CDL preferred, but not required).
- Demonstrated good driving record verified by the DMV.
- Experience driving large vehicles over 20,000 pounds.
- Basic knowledge of motor vehicle maintenance.
- Security background preferred; prior experience in private security, public law enforcement, or military duty is helpful but not essential.
Must comply with Trinity Health policies and procedures. In an 8‑hour day, employees may sit, stand, and/or walk 6‑8 hours. Mobility, dexterity, fine motor skills, and the ability to use hands in repetitive motion tasks (e.g., grasping, fine manipulating) are required. Frequent bending, reaching above shoulder level, and pushing/pulling occur 21%–50% of the work time. Ability to see with near visual acuity and hear speech is required.
Frequent lifting and carrying of objects weighing 35 lbs or less occur 21%–50% of the work time. Occasional squatting, climbing 2 feet, and balancing occur 6%–10% of the work time. Must adhere to applicable organizational requirements on an annual basis for Employee Health Directives.
