Respiratory Therapist Home Medical Equipment
Mercy One is hiring a Respiratory Therapist, HME to provide clinical respiratory services in client homes, assisted living facilities, long‑term care facilities, and other locations where home respiratory equipment is required. The service area covers a 4‑county region in Iowa and Illinois and serves patients ranging from newborn to geriatric.
Responsibilities- Provide clinical respiratory services in client homes and related facilities.
- Perform client diagnostic procedures and evaluate equipment in patient homes according to an established schedule.
- Deliver, set‑up, and pick‑up equipment and related products in client homes and institutions.
- Educate clients on proper home use and maintenance of equipment.
- Trouble‑shoot and make minor repairs on equipment suspected of malfunctioning.
- Provide hands‑on instructions and trouble‑shooting tips for clients receiving respiratory equipment for home use.
- Provide in‑services on equipment to long‑term care facility staff as required.
- Respond to on‑call client needs and take call in rotation with other staff members.
- 36 hours per week.
- 8:30 am – 5:00 pm Monday – Friday, with on‑call rotation every 3rd week including weekends and holidays.
- Registered Respiratory Therapist license in Iowa (must obtain Illinois license within 4 months of hire).
- Registered by the National Board for Respiratory Care upon hire.
- Valid driver’s license and proof of appropriate auto insurance coverage.
- Illinois background check within 3 months of hire.
- Basic Cardiac Life Support certification.
- Available for 24‑hour on‑call to include weekends and evenings when assigned.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to relate to ill, elderly, anxious, or confused clients.
- Patience and compassion when educating clients.
- Basic computer keyboarding skills.
- Comfortable operating in a collaborative, shared leadership environment.
- Personal presence characterized by honesty, integrity, and caring, and ability to inspire and motivate others to promote the mission, vision, and values of Mercy One Health System.
- Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program.
