Patient Safety Assistant - Contingent - Midnight Shift - Macomb

GENERAL

SUMMARY:

• The Patient Safety Assistant (PSA) will provide a safe environment for the patient under the direction of the Registered Nurse.
• Tasks include patient observation, assisting with feeding, bathing, toileting, ambulating, engaging in activities that the patient enjoys i.e. reading, playing cards, etc., and companionship.
• The PSA will maintain a commitment to the philosophy, mission, and values of the Henry Ford Health System (HFHS).
• The PSA working the monitor will recognize and report any changes observed to the RN per protocol.

• High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.

• Ability to communicate effectively with patients using a microphone and headset.
• Ability to communicate with hospital staff and respond quickly to patient changes.
• Ability to use discretion and courtesy when working with patients, visitors, and staff.
• Basic computer operation skills.
• Efficiency in multitasking.
• Ability to prioritize simultaneous situations.

Successful completion of BLS Heartsaver during orientation.
