Overview
Technical Lead – Compressed Air Systems (Clifton, NJ)
Mission Alkin Compressors Inc is in a rapid growth mode and we are looking for a skilled, excited and customer oriented addition to our team. The position of “Technical Lead” serves customers by direct and indirect support of rotary screw and reciprocating compressors & boosters, along with additional compressed air system components. Work in collaboration with all aspects of Sales and Service to support customer satisfaction.
Perform all duties in accordance with Alkin Compressors standards, while always striving to understand the needs and expectations of the internal and external customers.
- Provides technical assistance for Alkin Distributors/Customers on equipment pre-commissioning and start-ups, installations and repairs of compressed air systems, including “hands-on” work to assure equipment operates to customer’s requirement.
- Conveys Technical Training on all products to business partners (OEM’s, Distributors).
- Manages Warranty Process and subsequent actions to support.
- Increases customers awareness of all company products, services and solutions, such as Warranty Programs, Preventative Maintenance, Diagnostics, Audits and Leak Detection benefit to their operations.
- Maintains rapport with customers by addressing complaints, identifying solutions, suggesting improved methods and techniques and recommending system improvements.
- Explains practices, procedures, and policies to reach agreement with suppliers and others outside of the job area.
- Provides assistance and training to other company colleagues.
- Conducts safety assessments of a continuously changing working environment.
- Ensures proper operation of compressed air equipment by completing preventative maintenance requirements and multi-point inspections on a wide variety of compressors, refrigerated dryers, desiccant dryers, specialty gas generation and additional compressed air components.
- Able to read wiring schematics and diagrams for all equipment.
- Effectively communicates verbally and in writing with customers and co-workers.
- Air Quality Knowledge/Skills (system compressor/dryer – air treatment).
- Other duties as assigned/needed by the company.
Professional Development (10%) – Through training and experience, polish/develop skills such as technical knowledge, time management, customer relations, effective communication skills, data management, and other skills needed to be proficient in this role.

Experience
Required:
5+ Years of Service or Service Management Experience with Air Compressors or Boosters.
- Be a self-directed team player, who has a positive attitude, and is customer success oriented.
- Have excellent organizational, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Must be able to successfully manage multiple tasks and time management throughout the day.
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel.
- Advanced knowledge of some or all of the following required: AC/DC circuits, wiring diagrams/schematics, motors/controls, PLCs, HVAC electricity, controls, refrigeration systems and/or refrigerant certification.
- EPA 608 /F-GAS 303/2008/CE/ISHRAE Certification Preferred (Refrigeration experience/certification a plus).
- Advanced verbal and written communication skills – Multilingual is a plus.
- Advanced customer service skills including conflict management and opportunity development/consulting.
- Company Ambassador – Projects a positive and professional image of the company to customers, vendors, and co-workers.
Travel (30-40% Estimate):
Visits with Distributors for Training, Equipment Commissioning, Troubleshooting, and on occasion trade expositions.
