General Summary

We are seeking a compassionate and reliable Home Health Aide (HHA) who is comfortable working in homes with pets. In this role, you will provide essential personal care, companionship, and daily living assistance to clients who may have dogs, cats, or other friendly household animals. Your ability to create a safe, supportive, and pet‑inclusive environment is key to your success.

Essential Functions
  • Assist clients with tasks within the scope of a home health aide based on the Plan of Care (POC).
  • Communicate effectively with administrative staff regarding client/family needs assessments, including reporting any significant changes in client condition.
  • Provide care as outlined in the Home Health Aide Care Plan and accurately document the cares provided.
  • Contribute to continuity of care, effective communication between all care team members, and regular participation in Case conferences/Team Meetings.
  • Apply concepts of infection control and universal precaution in coordination/performing client care activities to protect both staff and patients.
  • Demonstrate commitment and professional growth by participating in in‑service programs and maintaining/improving competency. Complete training or in‑services in a timely manner as assigned by your supervisor.
  • Meet mandatory continuing education requirements of the Agency/licensing board.

    Experience
    • (1) year experience as a home health aide or certified nursing assistant in a home health setting. Successful completion of formal training in nursing arts may be substituted for the qualifying experience, subject to applicable State law, regulation, or rules.
    Skills
    • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all segments of the staff and the Agency leadership team.
    • Shall be able to read, write and comprehend English.
    Education
    • High School Graduate or equivalent
    Requirements
    • Home Health Aide Certificate or other similar certification held in good standing. 75‑hrs program.
    • A formal certificate of completion for an HHA/CNA training program that meets or exceeds standards established by Health and Human Services. Completion of all in‑service hours per year. Ongoing requirements may vary by state and/or participating program.
    • Ability to work in homes with pets of various sizes and breeds.
    • Comfort around dogs, cats, and other non‑aggressive animals.

    Current CPR certification.

    • Current driver’s license in good standing. The employee is responsible for renewing their driver’s license before it expires to continue employment.
    • Reliable transportation and auto liability insurance.
