Position: Maintenance Technician (Apprentice)

This Maintenance Technician Apprenticeship is designed for individuals who are eager to build technical skills, work with industrial equipment, and grow within a manufacturing environment.

About the Apprenticeship Program

Dows U.S. Apprenticeship Program offers a structured 23 year paid training experience that combines practical, hands‑on work at Dow manufacturing facilities with academic coursework at a partnering community college. Apprentices earn a company-sponsored Associates degree while gaining real‑world experience maintaining and supporting production equipment in chemical manufacturing plants.

Throughout the program, apprentices receive hourly pay, paid tuition, and select benefits. Each apprentice is supported by an Apprenticeship Program Leader and experienced maintenance professionals. Successful graduates are strongly considered for long‑term employment with Dow in maintenance or technical operations roles.

Participants who accept an apprenticeship offer will be required to commit to two years of employment with Dow upon placement into a full‑time position.

Compensation and Start Dates
  • Hourly Wage Range: $21.69 – $25.38 (non‑negotiable)
  • Anticipated Start Window:
    June 8, 2026 to August 3, 2026
Responsibilities

  • Millwright/Mechanical Technician
  • Laboratory Technician
Process Technician Primary Responsibilities and Key Skills
  • Operate and monitor production equipment within assigned plant areas
  • Adjust control systems to regulate temperature, pressure, flow, and material levels
  • Transfer raw materials and finished products using pumps, valves, and piping systems
  • Follow operating procedures and safety standards to ensure stable plant operations
  • Identify process deviations, quality concerns, and equipment issues
  • Support maintenance activities through proper equipment isolation and permitting
  • Perform tasks with strong focus on safety, environmental compliance, and efficiency
Instrument Technician Primary Responsibilities and Key Skills
  • Install, inspect, maintain, and repair industrial instrumentation and control devices
  • Work with pneumatic, electronic, and digital measurement systems
  • Calibrate instruments that monitor pressure, flow, temperature, level, and composition
  • Diagnose instrument malfunctions and replace faulty components
  • Interpret wiring diagrams, loop drawings, and logic schematics
  • Apply electronic troubleshooting techniques to restore system accuracy
  • Follow and contribute to maintenance and calibration procedures
Electrical Technician Primary Responsibilities and Key Skills
  • Maintain and repair electrical equipment used in manufacturing operations
  • Support motors, starters, control panels, breakers, and power distribution systems
  • Troubleshoot electrical faults across low and high voltage equipment
  • Replace defective electrical components and wiring safely
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics and control diagrams
  • Apply electrical testing and diagnostic techniques
  • Follow electrical safety practices, lockout/tagout, and maintenance procedures
Millwright / Mechanical Technician Primary Responsibilities and Key Skills
  • Install, service, and repair mechanical equipment used in production processes
  • Work on pumps, compressors, fans, blowers, gearboxes, mixers, and agitators
  • Perform mechanical troubleshooting to identify equipment failures
  • Replace worn or damaged mechanical parts and components
  • Read mechanical drawings, blueprints, and equipment manuals
  • Use precision tools and alignment techniques
  • Follow preventive maintenance schedules and mechanical work procedures
Laboratory Technician Primary Responsibilities and Key Skills
