Position SummaryProvides daily routine nursing care and services that support the care delivered to residents, particularly those living with dementia, in accordance with the established nursing care procedures and as directed by the supervisor. An active approach to resident care will be taken and not just passive maintenance. CNAs will be deeply involved in resident activities and programming and must understand and have a desire to continue to grow in dementia‑specific caregiving.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Assists the resident in any daily routines, personal care, and housekeeping tasks.
- Carries out daily resident programming and activities.
- Reports observations and other pertinent information related to resident care.
- Provides services that support the care delivered to the resident and reviews care plans daily to determine if changes in the routine have been made.
- Provides input in the formulation and evaluation of standards of care.
- Participates in the identification of staff educational needs.
- Conducts self in a professional manner in compliance with unit facility policies.
- Surveys for safety and picks up resident’s room each day, removing all soiled linens and changing bed linens, towels, and wash cloths once a week or as needed.
- Performs checks on residents and assists with toilet or cleanup of soiled residents.
- Ensures that all residents call lights are promptly answered, followed by appropriate responses to requests.
- Assists with dietary responsibilities, including serving meals and cleaning meal area as needed.
- Maintains confidentiality of all resident care information.
- Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor or Executive Director.
- Ensures compliance with safety and infection control policies, including hand washing and PPE use.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Educational Requirements and Experience- Graduation from high school or equivalent required.
- One (1) year Nursing Assistant experience or student nurse preferred.
- Experience working with the elderly is desirable.
- CPR and first aid training (preferred).
- Completion of certification program for Nursing Assistants.

- Stand, bend, talk, and hear regularly.
- Walk, sit, occasionally climb stairs.
- Use hands and fingers to touch, handle, and feel; reach with hands and arms.
- Lift and/or move objects up to 50 pounds.
- Require close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth vision; ability to adjust focus.
- Proper body mechanics for lifting and transferring residents.
- Works in well‑lit/ventilated areas.
- May be exposed to therapy animals, falls, burns, infectious diseases, chemicals, odors.
- Must handle hostile and emotionally upset residents, family members, personnel, and visitors.
