About the roleProvides daily routine nursing care and services that support the care delivered to residents, particularly those living with dementia, in accordance with the established nursing care procedures and as directed by the supervisor. An active approach to resident care will be taken and not just passive maintenance. CNAs will be deeply involved in resident activities and programming and must understand and have a desire to continue to grow in dementia‑specific caregiving.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Assists the residents in any daily routines, personal care, and housekeeping tasks that they need assistance with.
- Is certified in dementia education through Remember Me Senior Care.
- Carries out daily resident programming and activities.
- Reports observations and other pertinent information related to the care of the resident.
- Provides services that support the care delivered to the resident, and reviews care plans daily to determine if changes in the daily care routine have been made.
- Provides input in the formulation and evaluation of standards of care.
- Participates in the identification of staff educational needs.
- Conducts himself/herself in a professional manner in compliance with unit facility policies.
- Surveys for safety and cleans up resident rooms each day. Removes all soiled linens from rooms. Bed linens, towels, and washcloths are changed once a week or as needed.
- Performs checks on residents and assists with toileting and cleanup of soiled residents.
- Ensures that all resident call lights are promptly answered, followed by appropriate responses to requests.
- Assists with dietary responsibilities, including serving meals and cleaning the meal area as needed.
- Maintains and ensures confidentiality of all pertinent resident care information.
- Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor or the Executive Director.
- Understands and follows compliance with safety and infection control policies and procedures, including the practice of regular and thorough handwashing, and adherence to established procedures for use and disposal of personal protective equipment.

Educational Requirements and Experience- Graduation from high school or equivalent required.
- One (1) year nursing assistant experience or student nurse preferred.
- Experience working with the elderly is desirable.
Special Requirements
- CPR certified and first aid training preferred.
- Completion of certification program for Nursing Assistants in Tennessee.

- Lifting up to 10 pounds; possible exposure to various drugs, chemicals, infectious, or biological hazards.
- Up to 25 pounds; subject to injury from falls, residents, burns, odors, or cuts from equipment.
- Up to 50 pounds; requires travel.
- Up to 100 pounds; occasionally required.
- Vision required frequently.
