This is a fully remote position; however, up to 90% travel is required to perform installations and/or relocation of Ipsen equipment. The ideal candidate will live in close proximity to a major airport to promote efficient scheduling of travel. This travel may consist of extended periods of travel.

Position Summary

As directed and assigned by the Installation Manager, the Furnace Installation Engineer is responsible for performing hands‑on technical work as well as leading site installation of Ipsen furnaces. This includes learning and understanding the requirements for installing Ipsen vacuum furnaces, working onsite to either complete the installation of the furnace independently, with a team of Ipsen field service personnel, or working with contractors engaged by Ipsen for the project, coordinating Ipsen resources, resolving customer needs and ensuring efficient and timely execution of projects.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Carry out primary work related to the installation of Ipsen vacuum furnaces such as bending conduit, pulling wire, terminating electrical connections, installation of pipework (black pipe, copper, PVC) for process gas and cooling fluids etc.
  • Work with and alongside contractors or other Ipsen field service personnel for rigging, millwright, piping, and electrical installation tasks.
  • Complete and/or monitor the work for accuracy. Ensures quality checks are completed and troubleshoots issues and repairs as needed. This includes, loose/missing fittings, poor wire connections also plumb, level, and square. Make repairs/corrections as necessary.
  • Follows all safety rules/protocols. Enforce site safety requirements for Ipsen employees, contractors, vendors, and customer employees. Goal is zero accidents and zero lost time.
  • Prior to installation review requirements of installations and understand Ipsen contractual responsibility with the Installation Manager to understand scope of the work to be done.
  • Maintain the installation budget, use management tools to save money where possible. Control lost time and overtime.
  • Carefully review any contractor change order requests, determine validity with support of the installation manager.
  • Maintain and control the installation schedule to maximize site performance.
  • Provides a high‑level of professionalism and leadership on the job site to best represent Ipsen.
  • Resolve challenging situations or conflict in calm professional manner.
  • Effectively leads an onsite team. Delegates work, priority setting, etc.
  • Effectively and timely refers unresolved disputes to the Installation Manager.
  • When the Installation Manager is not available, attend and participate in project kick‑off meetings for customers and contractors as required.
  • Gathers and disseminates competitive intelligence to the Ipsen team.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements

Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required, Bachelor’s degree in Business, Industrial or Mechanical Engineering degree preferred.
  • Minimum four (4) years of experience in a service/contractor organization with a proven track record of successfully executing large and complex installations of capital equipment.
  • Prior supervisory or management experience preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Strong mechanical and electrical ability.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven communication ability to build and lead effective and diverse teams.
  • Possess strong project management, organizational and leadership skills.
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
