The General Maintenance 3 employee, under the direction of the Zoo Manager of Buildings & Facilities, performs skilled tasks requiring specialized training, considerable experience, and proven abilities. This includes, but is not limited to, skills in HVAC, masonry, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, welding, etc., related to industrial building maintenance and construction.

Essential Functions:

• Performs master-level skilled trade work in HVAC.
• Performs building maintenance tasks such as drywall installation, cabinetry, flooring, locksmithing, ceiling tile repairs, plumbing, electrical work, welding, etc., as assigned.
• Operates equipment including tractors, chain saws, generators, dump trucks, wheel loaders, backhoes, excavators, and skid steers.
• Performs safe digging operations around active utilities.
• Provides construction labor for paving roads and paths, installing drainage tiles, building wood decks, and other construction projects.
• Provides work direction to seasonal employees, as assigned.
• Responds to fire alarm systems as required.
• Performs duties in a safe and efficient manner to maintain a safe work environment.
• Keeps supervisor informed of key issues.
• Performs other duties as assigned or apparent.

• Specialized skilled trade tools (power saws, drills, chain saws, welding equipment, electrical test equipment, etc.).
