Overview
Legends Global, the leader event and facilities management, has an opening for a Part-Time Security Officer at the Huntington Convention Center of Cleveland. The Security Officer participates in the day-to-day functions of promoting and ensuring security and safety at the Huntington Convention Center of Cleveland and the Global Center for Health Innovation. The Security Officer provides direction, safety and security for event-related activity as required.
Pay: $15/HR
Responsibilities- Secures premises, personnel and guests by patrolling property.
- Maintains a safe and calm environment through crowd control, monitoring of facility cameras, challenging and removing those who are uninvited or do not have business with the facility.
- Confidently maneuver through the facility to complete duties, security checks, or emergency situations.
- Communicate, greet, and provide information or directions to all guests in a courteous and helpful manner.
- Conduct and document routine property walks around the building, including patrols of service corridors, employee break rooms, mechanical and electrical rooms, event halls, and pre-function areas.
- Control the flow of truck and vehicular traffic during move-in/move-out on the loading dock.
- Perform routine patrols inside and outside perimeter rounds; restrict access to non-event personnel or employees.
- Direct people and trucks to relevant event locations.
- Lock and unlock facility doors during routine patrols and upon request; control access and exit from the loading dock and perform vehicle screening as needed.
- Respond to emergency situations, including the appropriate use of CPR and/or AED.
- Complete detailed reports on shift activity and maintain a daily log using computer modules and software programs.
- Operate and monitor computerized fire alarm and surveillance camera systems as required.
- Operate and control the facility command center; maintain radio communication with the Command Center.

Education and Experience- High School Diploma/equivalent required.
- Minimum 6 months security experience preferred.
- OPOTA Certification beneficial but not required.
- CPR, First Aid, AED (obtain and maintain through employment as necessary).
- Maintain a valid driver’s license or have willingness and ability to obtain for required equipment operation.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; fluent in English.
- Outstanding interpersonal skills; must display utmost customer service to all clients, guests, and employees.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding the Company, events, clients, co-workers and related matters.
- Detail oriented with strong organizational skills; accuracy is essential.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to use sound judgment in emergency situations.
- Ability to perform duties efficiently under emergency situations and make firm decisions during emergencies.
- Excellent critical thinking, problem solving, organizational, and multi-tasking skills; ability to prioritize tasks and address the most critical demands first; ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Ability to clearly instruct others on processes and follow-up as necessary.
- Demonstrated ability to operate motorized vehicles.
- Ability and willingness to work flexible hours, including overtime, evenings/nights, holidays, weekends, or emergency call-ins as dictated by business needs or event activity.
- Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Surveillance (CCTV) skills, preferred but not required.
This position requires duties to be performed in both indoor and outdoor environments with varying noise levels, temperature changes and potentially adverse weather. The role may involve exposure to dust, cleaning agents, bright/flashing lights, and crowds.
Physical requirements include mobility around all facility areas, climbing stairs or ladders, working from various heights, lifting/pushing/pulling items up to 75 pounds, manual dexterity, good vision, balance, and hearing for communications and equipment operation. Hours of Work and Travel RequirementsWork hours are based on business needs and may include irregular, extended hours including weekends, evenings, nights and holidays.
