Overview
The Senior Sales Manager is responsible for representing the organization to customers, the public, and other external sources. The role oversees the development and performance of all sales activities in the assigned market, listening to customer needs, analyzing that information, and creating tailored proposals. The manager negotiates and closes sales while meeting or exceeding sales targets, impressing customers with quality, timely service, and a friendly demeanor.
Collaboration with local sales and account teams is essential to drive production from targeted high‑priority accounts and maximize business within the represented marketplace.
- Develop the sales strategy for the assigned market and ensure individual booking goals are met.
- Create and maintain an account plan for the market’s demand generators.
- Leverage demand engines to their full potential, focusing on both proactive and reactive selling.
- Activate and manage platforms required for sales processes.
- Maintain current and accurate client information through databases and sources.
- Develop and maintain contact with clients to secure new and repeat business.
- Lead business development activities through prospecting and scoping new opportunities.
- Scout partnerships and produce/deliver presentations to clients and third‑party planners.
- Represent the hotel at industry trade shows and sales trips.
- Meet and exceed budget, control expenses, and provide a return on investment for the owner and investors.
- Stimulate productivity through positive guidance and a challenging environment.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- 4‑year bachelor’s degree (preferred).
- Lodging sales experience in luxury or upscale hotels and resorts.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to effectively present information to individuals or groups.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs.
- Current Marriott experience preferred.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong attention to detail.
Work is performed indoors and outdoors in a commercial setting with regular exposure to cold, heat, noise, people, and equipment. The employee must occasionally stand, walk, sit, use hands, reach, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, talk or hear, and taste or smell. Lifting or moving up to 80 pounds is required. Vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Expected Hours of Work & TravelWork various shifts when needed to cover regular business hours, including weekends and evenings.
