Account Manager – Lubricant Additives (LAB)

Preferred location: Ohio (ideally Cleveland) | Up to 50% travel

At LANXESS, we don’t just sell products—we partner with customers to solve complex challenges and create value across the lubricant additives market. We’re looking for a driven Account Manager – LAB who thrives at the intersection of sales, strategy, and technical collaboration.

What You’ll Do
  • Own and grow customer accounts with full sales and budget responsibility, delivering results through strong key account plans, forecasting, and CRM excellence.
  • Identify high-impact customer & product combinations and uncover niche value propositions within the Lubricant Additives market.
  • Build trusted relationships with the technical side of the customer, gaining deep insight into their products, markets, and needs—while positioning LANXESS solutions against competitive offerings.
  • Sell value, not price, securing customer commitments through differentiated solutions.
  • Collaborate cross-regionally and cross-functionally to support new market opportunities, product/service improvements, and key account initiatives.
  • Stay current on industry trends, competitors, and customer offerings to sharpen our market positioning.
  • Represent LANXESS at key industry events and trade shows such as AFPM, ILMA, STLE, and NLGI.
What You Bring
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • MBA or advanced technical degree preferred.
  • 3–5 years of relevant experience in the chemical industry (distribution management experience a plus).
  • Knowledge of lubricants, base oils, additives, finished products, and competitive markets preferred.
  • Proven success qualifying prospects, selling value, and closing deals—ideally in the chemical industry.
  • Strong key account management and communication skills with a collaborative mindset.
  • Strategic thinker who can anticipate motivations, manage complexity, and drive favorable outcomes.
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 50%.
