Our Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) is a 20 bed combined medical-surgical unit which cares for more than 1600 critically ill children each year and is the only Level I Trauma PICU in NEO.

When a child is transferred to the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, UH Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital’s team of caring pediatric team is available to provide the highest level of expert critical care in Northeast Ohio. This includes care and treatment for traumatic injuries, critical illnesses, and for children recovering from surgery. We also treat children referred from the emergency department and other pediatric divisions.

• Must abide by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for our patients. Annual training, the UH Code of Conduct and UH policies and procedures are in place to address appropriate use of PHI in the workplace.

(BSN) Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, RN Diploma, ADN, or MN required

• 1 year of inpatient RN experience required.
• New Grad RN's outside of UH Rainbow Babies and Children's and the UH Mac Donald Women's Hospital, are not being considered at this time.
• Knowledge of nursing process and practice. (Required proficiency)
• Uses a wide variety of technical equipment to meet patient needs and prescribed clinical therapies (ie. stethoscopes, thermometers, sphygmomanometers and electronic monitoring devices. (Required proficiency)

• Registered Nurse (RN), Ohio and/or Multi State Compact License (Required Upon Hire) and
• Basic Life Support (BLS) (Required Upon Hire)
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) May be required based on the clinical care standards of the unit. Refer to ACLS/PALS Unit Requirements document found on DWP Nursing Portal to determine requirements by unit.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) May be required based on the clinical care standards of the unit. Refer to ACLS/PALS Unit Requirements document found on DWP Nursing Portal to determine requirements by unit.
