Description:

We have two operating departments.
One is the main operating room with 26 rooms and level one trauma.
The other is a 7-room unit that caters to both inpatient and outpatient procedures.
Your primary base will be in the 7-room unit, but you may float to other areas as needed when overstaffed or when procedures finish early.
The responsibilities include two weekend call shifts and 6-11 AM to 9:45 PM shifts per six-week schedule.
There are typically no other weekend obligations.
The typical load in the 7-room unit includes:
- General surgeries, primarily hernias, appendectomies, cholecystectomies, Nissen fundoplications, PEG procedures, and GI work.
- Colorectal surgeries, including open and laparoscopic bowel resections, along with some robotic procedures.
- Gynecological surgeries, both oncological and benign, involving open, laparoscopic, and robotic methods, including D&C, hysteroscopy, LEEP, and tubal ligation.
- Urology procedures such as cystoscopy, stent placements, TURB, TURP, PCNL, HoLEP, open, laparoscopic, and robotic nephrectomies and cystectomies.
- Breast surgeries, including biopsies, mastectomies, and reconstructions.
- Eye surgeries, including plastics, cataracts, and vitrectomies, performed only three times a month.
- Brachytherapy, primarily assisting with device insertion, typically performed by a radiation oncology team.
- Plastic surgeries, often related to breast or gender affirmation procedures.
- Uro-Gynecology procedures, including slings and anterior and posterior repairs.
- Robotics, primarily focusing on Urology and Gynecology, with some bariatric surgeries; sometimes two of the rooms are robotic.
Our unit operates from Monday to Friday and often finishes by 7-8 PM.
If procedures end too early, staff may float to the main operating room to complete the day or assist in other areas as needed.
The main operating room handles various services, including Orthopedics, Vascular, ENT, General Oncology, Transplant, Neuro, Thoracic, Cardiac, and Trauma surgeries.
