Licensed Practical Nurse; Breast​/Gynecology

Position: Licensed Practical Nurse (Breast/Gynecology)
The VA Northeast Ohio Healthcare System is recruiting for an Licensed Practical Nurse (Breast/Gynecology). The Licensed Practical Nurse (Breast/Gynecology) will function in the Breast Care/Gynecology Clinic of Surgical Service.

This position is for an LPN as part of the Breast Care/Gynecology team. The LPN will function within the Breast and Gynecology clinics of Surgical Services.

Functions of Assigned Duties

* The LPN contributes to the planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care with the interdisciplinary team in regards to the treatment plans for clinic and surgery patients.

* Independently performs a wide variety of nursing care duties as assigned by the registered nurse or physician that are within scope of license. Demonstrates the application of the nursing process to quickly identify actual or potential concerns and directs cases to the appropriate providers and resources.

* Participates in communication "huddles" with the RN / LIP to receive information and delegation of assigned duties.

* Assumes responsibility and accountability for nursing action. Monitors, observes and records subjective and objective data (vital signs, labs, etc.) and reports changes in patient conditions to RN or LIP.

* Performs treatments and/or procedures within the scope of license and facility policies and procedures.

* Answer incoming clinical and surgical patient phone calls. Demonstrates active listening and excellent interviewing and screening skills during telephone calls. Collects both subjective and objective data within the clinical setting.

* Schedule surgical procedures and clinical appointments in the outpatient setting as documented and/or determined by the clinical triage from the LIP or RN.

* Coordinate multiple appointments for surgery patients in collaboration with outside departments (radiology, laboratory etc.) in priority as determined by RN or LIP.

* Assists RN to prepare patients for surgery including making phone calls coordinating appointments, and tracking progress.

* Provide patient education.

* Completes comprehensive nursing documentation according to standards.

* Other duties as assigned

Work Schedule:

Monday - Friday 8:00am - 4:30pm (Variable at supervisor discretion)
