RN - PRN - Acute Care for the Elderly Unit
Apply to join the acute care team for geriatric patients at Summa Health System – Akron Campus.
- Shift: PRN, 7 pm–7:30 am
- Unit size: 28 beds; target nurse‑to‑patient ratio: 1:5 to 1:6 (subject to census)
- Per‑diem requirements: minimum 24 hours within a four‑week schedule; at least 12 hours on a weekend, holiday, or hard‑to‑fill shift
- Shift differentials: $5 / hr night; $1 / hr weekend

SummaryProvides, coordinates, and delegates nursing care for inpatient geriatric patients while managing resources. Applies evidence‑based nursing theory and professional judgment in delivering care, supporting patients, families, and community to achieve optimal health.
Minimum Qualifications- Education:
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN);
Associate’s degree accepted with BSN completion within three years. - Accreditation:
Nursing program accredited by CCNE or ACEN. - Licensure:
Current Ohio RN license. - Experience:
Minimum one year recent experience in an acute care setting. - Skills:
Full range of body motion, manual dexterity, standing and walking, correct vision and hearing, ability to work under stress, familiarity with communicable disease precautions, and hazard awareness. - Certifications:
Current Basic Life Support; prerequisite ACLS certification within six months for new critical‑care/telemetry/PACU/ED RN hires. - Population competency:
Ability to interact respectfully with diverse geriatric populations.
