RN 3 North Epilepsy Monitoring Unit – Summa Health
Full‑time, 36‑hour week (7 p‑7 a)
Primary Patient Population:
Specialized care in Epilepsy Monitoring – medical patients.
Unit Size: 17‑bed unit. Target Nurse‑to‑Patient Ratio: 1:5 (subject to change).
Unit overview:
Guided by the basic principles of nursing, the unit utilizes evidence and nursing theory to provide, coordinate, and delegate nursing care, managing resources to attain optimum health for patients, families, and the community.
- Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing (BSN) or an Associate’s degree (must obtain a BSN within 3 years)
- Graduate of a program accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) or the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN)
- Current license to practice registered nursing in the State of Ohio
- PRN RN’s:
At least 1 year of recent experience in the area of practice - Weekend option positions: 1 year of related RN experience
- Additional related experience may be required for specialty units
- Full body motion – handling and lifting patients; manual and finger dexterity; eye‑hand coordination
- Standing and walking for extended periods
- Corrected vision and hearing within normal range
- Work under stressful conditions and irregular hours
- Exposure to communicable disease, body fluids, toxins, ionizing radiation, and other hazards typical of a clinical environment
- Current Basic Life Support certification; all nurses new to critical care, progressive care, medical telemetry, PACU, and ED must complete Advanced Cardiac Life Support within the first six months and maintain certification; RNs hired into areas requiring ACLS must be ACLS certified upon hire or complete within six weeks
- Additional education or certifications may be required for specialty areas (e.g., PALS, NIH, Non‑Violet Crisis Intervention)
- Ability to interact effectively with diverse patient populations and respect their dignity and self‑respect
- Heavy:
Exerts 50–100 lbs of force occasionally; 25–50 lbs of force frequently; 10–20 lbs of force continuously to move objects
