Full‑time, 36 hours per week, 7 p.m. – 7:30 a.m., every other weekend/holiday.
Summa Health System – Akron Campus.
Primary Patient PopulationThis unit provides care to geriatric patients who require inpatient acute care or close observation and testing.
Unit Size & Nurse‑to‑Patient Ratio28‑bed unit. Target ratio 1:5 to 1:6, subject to change based on census and patient care needs.
Highlights- Eligible for the Frontline Force Hire‑On Incentive – up to $25,000 for experienced nurses and $15,000 for new‑grad nurses.
- $5/hr shift differential for nights; $1/hr for weekends.
- 12‑month nurse residency program for new grads.
Guided by knowledge of the basic principles of nursing based on the biological, physical, and psycho‑social sciences, utilizes judgment supported by evidence and nursing theory in the delivery of nursing care. Provides, coordinates and/or delegates nursing care and manages resources in the delivery of care for patients, families, and the community, with the goal of attaining, maintaining and restoring optimum health.
FormalEducation Required
- Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing (BSN).
- Applicants with an Associate’s degree will be considered but are required to obtain a BSN within three (3) years of employment.
- Graduate of a program of professional nursing accredited by CCNE or ACEN.
- Current license to practice registered nursing in Ohio.
- PRN RNs must have at least one year of recent experience in the area of practice.
- One year of related RN experience required for weekend option positions.
- Additional related previous experience and/or preparation may be required for specialty units.
- Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, and eye‑hand coordination.
- Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.
- Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
- Requires working under stressful conditions or working irregular hours.
- Requires exposure to communicable disease, body fluids, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, and other potentially hazardous conditions common to a clinical environment (risk of falls, strains, etc.).
- Maintains current Basic Life Support certification; all nurses new to critical care, progressive care, medical telemetry, PACU, and ED must successfully complete Advanced Cardiac Life Support within the first six months and maintain current ACLS certification. Experienced RNs hired into areas requiring ACLS are expected to have an ACLS certification upon hire or must complete it within six weeks of hire.

- Additional education or certifications may be required for specialty areas (e.g., PALS, NIH, Non‑Violet Crisis Intervention).
- Ability to effectively interact with populations of patients/customers with an understanding of their needs for self‑respect, dignity, and diversity.

Exerts 50‑100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force continuously to move objects.

Salary$33.75/hr – $53.00/hr (base salary exclusive of bonuses or differentials).
