Manual Machinist (1st Shift)

Monday - Friday 6:00am - 4:30pm

Moody, AL (On-site)

We are seeking a talented and dedicated Manual Machinist to join our dynamic team. This is more than just a job; it’s an opportunity to be part of a company that values creativity, excellence, and collaboration.

• Set up large Liquid Ring Vacuum Pump components and operate large Vertical & Horizontal Lathes used for repair and overhaul of Large Liquid Ring Vacuum Pumps & Compressors.
• Interpret blueprints/drawings to determine critical dimensions and read precision measuring equipment such as Micrometers, Vernier Calipers, Dial Indicators.
• Maintain tolerances as specified, including low tolerances (e.g., .0005”).
• Select appropriate cutting tools for various metals and determine speeds and feeds for proper surface finish.
• Work overtime and occasionally on weekends.
• Operate Forklift and Overhead Crane safely in a Machine Shop environment and adhere to all company EH&S & QMS processes.
• Lift and rig heavy components, assist in disassembly, reassembly, repair, and rebuilding of Large Liquid Ring Vacuum Pumps.
• Perform other assigned duties as needed.

• Demonstrated knowledge of machine setup and machine controls.
• 3+ years of experience as a machine operator/Machinist.
• 2+ years of experience reading and interpreting blueprints.
• 1+ year of experience working on King style boring mills (or VTLs).
• Proficiency with tools such as depth gauges, bore gauges, height gauges, feeler gauges, micrometers, calipers, deburring tools, die grinders, drill presses, and overhead lifting equipment.

• Prioritizing and meeting multiple deadlines.
• Converting between metric and US standard units.
• Problem‑solving with standard methods (e.g., 5 Whys).
• Effectively sharing information in one‑on‑one and small group settings with supervisors, customers, clients, and colleagues.

• HS Diploma or GED preferred; higher education or certificate is a plus.
• Experience with manual machining (VTL/Boring Mill/ or Horizontal Lathe) – brands such as Cincinnati and King.
• Proven ability to set up and operate Manual Machines, specialize in tool changes and in‑process offset adjustments.

This position will be based 100% onsite at our Moody, AL facility.
