About the Opportunity

As an Instrument Press Operator, you will set‑up, maintain and operate large forge presses (1,000 ton to 12,000 tons and over) to hot forge a variety of production and experimental commodities using a robotic‑assist device for material handling.

  • Follow and maintain all safety procedures to ensure the safest possible work environment.
  • Some work assignments require special protective clothing such as face shields, aprons, and gloves. Refer to area JHA for specific PPE requirements. All areas require safety glasses and steel‑toe shoes.
  • Perform housekeeping and other job‑related duties as assigned by supervisor.
  • Assist other operators on proper operational procedures.
  • Move material within the work area as required.
  • Maintain acceptable attendance and report to work prepared to be productive.
Responsibilities
  • Follow proper lock‑out/tag‑out procedures.
  • Maintain a safe, clean and organized working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Read, interpret and work from blueprints, factory routers, work instructions, sketches, drawings, SDS sheets, and safety information.
  • Comply with Pursuit Aerospace business conduct guidelines.
  • Acquire and maintain necessary job knowledge through on‑the‑job training, training programs, and meetings.
  • Train other operators in proper procedures, methods and techniques.
  • Participate in audits administered by internal and external auditors to establish training effectiveness.
  • Consistently achieve target rate based on work standards.
  • Prioritize tasks in a changing environment.
  • Maintain traceability of heat codes and billet mapping. Mark/tag material with proper heat code and other required identifiers.
  • Report deviations to supervisor.
  • Work and communicate with Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality and Production Control in production improvement, problem solving, and product testing.
  • Generate and maintain required paperwork: logbooks, inspection records, worksheets and other documentation by hand or computer.
  • Follow verbal and written Engineering and Quality Control instructions as contained in process procedures, metal finishing sheets, blueprints, operational sketches, tool lists and other control documents.
  • During downtime, perform a secondary job as required.
  • Work an entire shift and report to work regularly.
  • Set up, adjust and inspect die sets using blueprints and tooling layouts.
  • Inspect forged parts for form, finish, dimensional accuracy and forging defects using gauges and measurement tools.
  • Perform calculations for setup and inspection based on fractional and decimal numbers.
  • Complete necessary certifications such as NADCAP & MMM.
  • Operate hydraulic press and monitor pressure and temperature to specification.
  • Operate manual grinding tools and coordinate use of CMM for inspection.
  • Run multiple pieces of equipment with one operator.
  • Safely operate Man‑Mate boom.
Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or G.E.D. Certificate; experience using a band saw and lathe.
  • Minimum of one year of forging experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Licensed to operate a walk‑type lift truck, hydraulic lift truck or overhead joist.
  • Authorized to work in the U.S. on a full‑time basis without sponsorship now or in the future.
  • Able to perform work subject to ITAR/EAR regulations.
